It’s easy to get caught up in everything I don’t have and everything that isn’t working out. I haven’t been doing a very good job of it, but when I feel discouraged I try to meditate on these words…

Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. (Habakkuk 3:17, 18 ESV)

It’s hard to do. It requires faith to keep pushing, especially when you know you aren’t guaranteed anything for your effort. I personally feel completely over it at the moment but feelings can’t always be trusted and there is something to be said for diligence in the face of discouragement.
